Reigate and Banstead Remembers World War I

The Harlequin Theatre & Cinema takes part in the RBBC’s World War I Commemorative Centenary programme. The Council has planned a range of activities and events across the borough for people of all ages to come together to commemorate and remember the lives of those who lived, fought and died in the conflict. The events span across a 10 month period, August 10th 2014 to May 10th 2015.

Last weekend The Harlequin hosted the WWI Roadshow with Ian Chatfield, the Curator of Surrey Infantry Museum, along with other experts to hand provide information about a huge range of WWI artefacts that were brought in and put on display. Community members were given the chance to research their own family war dead, explore local history and see the military items up close.

As part of the Centenary Program, The Harlequin’s Waller Cinema provided a dedicated cinema screening of ‘War Requiem’ – offering customers free entrance into the film!
