Lewis Schaffer, a sharp-suited wisecracking New Yorker has a unique style he can insult you and love you in the same sentence. Most comics try to push boundaries but Lewis Schaffer pulls the rug out from under you. This is stand up in its rawest and most unpredictable form.
Pronounced ‘Shay-fer’, Lewis Schaffer was one of the top comics in the home of stand up comedy, New York City. A short visit to London went very wrong as love and marriage led to heartache in the UK. Now trapped in Nunhead, a suburb of Peckham, Lewis Schaffer is not making the best of a bad situation. But then again, he never has.
“I’m not an asylum seeker.
I’m not a tourist.
I’m not here on business.
I’m a hostage.” (Lewis Schaffer)
“Schaffer’s dry, acerbic style is exhilarating to watch. It’s a bloody good laugh and unlike anything else on the comedy circuit. Go see Lewis Schaffer.” (Time Out)
“Electrifying… a bizarre cross between performance art, a swingers’ part and a papal blessing. Five Stars.” (The Scotsman)
“Schaffer is disconcertingly terrific. He is compelling, unique and most of all unpredictable.” (Evening Standard)
Winner of King of Kings Comedy Store award
